With much of the tunnel work already underway, TCI was assigned the task of developing the specification for complete coverage of the Motorway, and then managing the site design and construction.

This motorway required 10km of road to have coverage on four cellular platforms. Two systems were designed, the first being for in tunnel coverage and this section required over 4km of radiating cable fixed to the tunnel roof. The in-tunnel coverage necessitated a world first in carrier combining which TCI worked closely with RFS to develop. The second half of the coverage utilised 5km of optic fibre-fed technology, and like the radiating cable, all the technical specifications were developed in-house by TCI for each carrier.
